More usually known as Sonic Boom, and was a founding member of alternative rock band Spacemen 3. Since the disbandment of Spacemen 3 in 1991, Kember has recorded as Spectrum and . The album was released in 1989, just two years before the breakup of the popular neo-psychedelic band he was in, Spacemen 3. When Sonic was working on Spectrum, he had a lot of tracks to work off of for a potential album. Spacemen 3 was beginning to work on their last studio album, 1991s Recurring and Sonic still had these handful of old, sad songs that he just wanted to release. In an interview with Rapido, Sonic explains how he ended up forming the Spectrum project along with Spacemen 3s Recurring a year later. Peter Kember born 19 November 1965, also known by his stage name Sonic Boom, is an English singer and record producer. He was a founding member, bassist, vocalist and guitarist of alternative rock band Spacemen 3, lasting from 1982 until the band's dissolution in 1991. He provided the production on MGMT's sophomore album Congratulations, Panda Bear's albums Tomboy and Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, and Beach House's seventh album, eponymously titled 7. Sonic Boom's first solo turn outside of Spacemen 3, while the band was still vaguely in existence, ironically features not only Jason Pierce, but most of the original Spiritualized lineup as well, including bassist Will Carruthers and guitarist Mark Refoy, not to mention other regular cohorts as the Jazz Butcher and the Perfect Disaster's Phil Parfitt and Josephine Wiggs.
