Rudolf Firkušný, László Somogyi conducts the Vienna State Opera Orchestra 1963 Dvořák Cadenza Highest quality: &fmt Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G minor, Op. 33, is the only piano concerto by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. Written in 1876, it was the first of three concertos that Dvořák completed, followed by the Violin Concerto, Op. 53 from 1879 and the Cello Concerto, Op. 104, written in 18941895. The piano concerto is probably the least known and least performed of Dvořák's concertos. Rudolf Firkusny was a great czech pianist and a champion of Dvorak's unjustly neglected until recently piano concerto, which he recorded several times the other advocate of this work was probably the also great Sviatoslav Richter. And this performance is surely among the best ever recorded, despite the fact that the conductor Laszlo Somogyi is not one of the big names and the Vienna State Orchestra never was as good as the VPO. Besides the concerto, you have 3 orchestral works also by Dvorak.
