Eventually is the second solo album that Paul Westerberg released after the breakup of The Replacements. It was released on April 30, 1996 on Reprise Records. The album started out in Atlanta, with producer Brendan O'Brien. Although those sessions produced good results-the leadoff single, Love Untold, among them-Westerberg and O'Brien parted ways. O'Brien was pressed for time, and Westerberg needed more time to write enough songs to fill out a full album. Westerberg regrouped with Lou Giordano. Eventually - Paul Westerberg. Paul Westerberg's second solo album, Eventually, delivered a full three years after his debut, 14 Songs, illustrates that he has problems telling the difference between maturity and stodginess. Eventually follows the same pattern as 14 Songs, as he balances up-tempo, Stonesy rockers with introspective, folky ballads. Generally, his slower numbers cut the deepest, like the affectionate Bob Stinson tribute, Good Day and the heart-tugging MamaDaddyDid. When Westerberg rocks out, he sounds tired and mannered neither his riffs nor his performance has the energy of vint. Album 1996 12 Songs. Paul Westerberg. Eventually is Paul Westerberg's second solo album originally released in 1996 which has never been issued on vinyl until now. Coming 3 years after his solo debut 14 Songs put his legendary band The Replacements to rest, Eventually is the most 'mature' and introspective album he made up to that point in his career. Although it's not as loud or brash as his earlier material with the 'Mats, while it has a couple of all out rockers such as You've Had It With You, the songwriting on the album is more subtle, with top notch songs such as Good Day inspired by the death

User reviews
Favorite Westerberg solo album. The maturation of the songwriting is astounding, and his subject matter is just as raw and gut wrenching as any Westerberg fan could expect. However, the quality of the material here is the strongest he had done since 1987, and while Stereo is it's equal in the songwriting, the production and arrangements make Eventually the besterberg. Key tracks: Love Untold, Ain't Got Me, You've Had It With You, Once Around The Weekend, Angels Walk, Good Day.
Listening to it tonight. I forgot how good this album is. "Once Around The Weekend" and "Good Day" are my favorites this time. In a melancholy mood, so it figures.
Pity "Stain Yer Blood" isn't on it, as its one of the best tracks.
