The Earthshaker is a blues album by Koko Taylor, released as an LP on March 1, 1978 by Alligator Records. Reviewing in Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies 1981, Robert Christgau wrote: Considering its size, Taylor's voice has never been what you'd call rich-she flubs the pitch quite a bit, and on the slow ones she's often sounded flat emotionally as well. But it retains amazing. Koko Taylor's Alligator encore harbored a number of tunes that still pepper her set list to this day - the grinding I'm a Woman and the party-down specials Let the Good Times Roll and Hey Bartender. Her uncompromising slow blues Please Don't Dog Me and a sassy remake of Irma Thomas' You Can Have My Husband also stand out, as does the fine backing by guitarists Sammy Lawhorn and Johnny B. Moore, pianist Pinetop Perkins, and saxman Abb Locke. Track Listing. Album 1978 9 Songs. The Earthshaker. Koko Taylor. Blues 1978. Let the Good Times Roll.
