Ode to Echo is like Glass Hammer trying to channel their inner Steely Dan lot of jazz chords and transitions. The dynamics of the music seems a bit less soaring as a result, and Im left with the impression that without Davison these guys may be somewhat adrift. A shame if this plays out over time, too, as If stands out out as a real high water mark in the history of prog. My guess is that if you loved GHs last three efforts youll enjoy this album too, as there's some very appealing music on this album but this album isnt the best place to start your journey into their musicpoetry. The story pokes fun at the egg-headed prog-rockers, including themselves, who took this type of music too seriously. On a serious note, a similar story to the one described actually happened to a Yes fan who spent too much time looking for a deeper meaning to Jon Anderson's lyrics.
