The Taste of Rain is not just any ordinary hip-hop album, its arguably the best hip-hop album of all time, and a masterpiece at that. Contrary to the popular misconception that most hip-hop utilizes no traditional instruments, the production on The Taste of Rain utilizes samples of just about every traditional instrument you can think of. Why Kneel is the début album by Deep Puddle Dynamics, a collaboration between underground hip hop artists Sole, Doseone, Alias and Slug. The album was reissued in 2002 with a bonus track Rainmen Controller 7 remix. Tracks 1 through 8 are the product of one week of recording sessions in June 1998. Tracks 9 through 12 were recorded exactly one year later. The album title comes from a western haiku by Jack Kerouac. The Taste of Rain. Why Kneel Q&A. Dynamics helped to spark one of the most interesting millennial movements in rap music with this debut album. Compared to some of the efforts that were soon to come from the Anticon stable as well as from fellow nonconformists at Rhymesayers and Definitive Jux, The Taste of Rain doesn't flaunt rap conventions too dramatically. But then, conventional is always a relative term when applied to such an iconoclastic amalgam of artists. This is one of it's strongest & weakest points of this album, it's not the most accessable LP, but is one of the more rewarding. It's depth, combination of hard beats and subtlety gives it a quality thats lacking from too much music: the more you listen the more you hear & the more your drawn in. This LP was a one off, near all the MC's have moved onto different projects, which is truly a shame as the group dynamic is an explosive, albiet slow burning, brew

repress this shit up one of the most forward thinking hip hop albums ever to be pressed to wax.
Geny
A blazing example of what Hip-Hop can be: proper head nod, deep atmospherics and truly thought provoking lyrics. This LP demands your attention, its near impossible to play as an incidental piece of music, (certainly not for dinner party's & probably not for playing out - unless you have a discerning crowd). This is one of it's strongest & weakest points of this album, it's not the most accessable LP, but is one of the more rewarding. It's depth, combination of hard beats and subtlety gives it a quality thats lacking from too much music: the more you listen the more you hear & the more your drawn in.
